What happened

A member of the United Nations Guard Unit was killed in a mortar attack in the Somali capital Mogadishu. The terrorist group al-Shabaab, affiliated to Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack and the UN said it would do everything possible to ensure that those responsible for the attack were brought to justice. Furthermore, several mortar shells fell within the area of ​​Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, where the United Nations complex is located. Somalia has experienced insecurity for several years, primarily due to the activities of terrorist groups such as al-Shabaab and Daesh/ISIS.
