What happened

The Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested the New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), in Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. The AKASH-NG is an advanced missile system designed to intercept agile, fast moving airborne threats. According to senior DRDO officials, the successful development of the system will further enhance the country’s air defence capabilities.
