China successfully places the central component of the world’s inaugural commercial small-scale nuclear reactor

The central component of China’s Linglong One, the first commercially operational Small Modular Reactor (SMR) globally, has been effectively set up in Hainan Province in southern China. This achievement represents a significant step in the overall installation process of the SMR. Referred to as the “core” of Linglong One, this module encompasses a tightly integrated assembly of vital elements including a pressure vessel, steam generator, primary pump receiver, and other essential equipment. The precision-engineered module requires meticulous management of gravitational forces, and its installation was strategically scheduled during favorable weather conditions to ensure accurate execution.
