Illegal waste disposal site seized in Crotone

The Carabinieri of the Petilia Policastro Company, operating in the Crotone area, Italy, with aerial assistance from the 8th Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Vibo Valentia, executed an operation to address environmental offenses. This operation led to the discovery and seizure of an unlawful waste disposal site, containing an estimated 600 cubic meters of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste, located in the Timpa Grande area of ​​Cotronei. Investigations suggest that a minimum of four individuals were administering an illicit waste disposal operation and demonstrating inadequate waste management practices, potentially impacting public health and the ecological equilibrium of the area. The aforementioned individuals have been held accountable for significant environmental transgressions, encompassing unlawful waste management and trafficking, as well as environmental degradation, and have subsequently been reported to the appropriate judicial authority.
