What happened

According to the WHO “Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and other Emergencies” (Week 39: 19 – 25 September 2022), Algeria IHR focal point notified WHO of a confirmed case of Circulating Vaccine-Derived Poliovirus type 2 (CVDPV2).

The case is a one-year-old girl resident of Tamanrasset Wilaya. The epidemiological investigation showed that she had not received any dose of oral or inactivated polio vaccine and that she had no history of travel outside the city of Tamanrasset.
