Teledyne FLIR Defense has been awarded a four-year, $74.2 million contract by the U.S. Army to continue development of the next-generation mounted reconnaissance capability for the M1135 Stryker’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV) Sensor Suite Upgrade Program. Having successfully delivered Sensor Suite prototypes last year, Teledyne is a front-line developer of advanced CBRN systems in the NBCRV Sensor Suite, which already includes the FLIR Defense R80D SkyRaider, a drone integrated with a biological detection payload. Under the new contract, Teledyne will work to further improve the design of the Sensor Suite upgrade, implementing upgrades such as advanced sensor capabilities, SkyRaider autonomous flight control and hazard prediction software upgrades. The company will also produce 6 prototypes and support government testing, and is expected to work on the programme until 2028.
