What happened

According to a statement issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, three terrorists were killed in Lakki Marwat district during a search operation in Madozai forest to apprehend militants seen in the vicinity of Tajuri police station. The operation, which was conducted by Lakki police, the Counter-Terrorism Department, and the Special Rapid Response Force, followed an exchange of gunfire with approximately 25 militants, in which three terrorists were killed, and some injured escaped, with no casualties among the police. Data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) demonstrated a surge in militant violence and security operations in March 2025, with over 100 terrorist attacks in the country. In the KP region, the PICSS report documented at least 206 fatalities, including 49 security personnel, 34 civilians, and 123 militants, along with 115 injuries, including 63 security personnel and 49 civilians.
