What happened

The Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has declared the apprehension of an individual suspected of militant activity and affiliation with the Zainabiyoun Brigade (ZB). This individual is allegedly implicated in acts of sectarian violence. The ZB was recently included in the list of banned organizations, following its designation as a terrorist entity by the US State Department in 2019. The suspect, who purportedly received regular financial support from the organization to which he was connected, is believed to have, along with his associates, targeted three individuals and caused injury to another in the Taimuria, Mobina Town, and Samanabad areas between 2023 and 2024. The arrest occurred in the vicinity of Soldier Bazaar, where the individual identified as Syed Mohammed Moosa Rizvi, also known as Kamran, had been concealing himself for a considerable time to escape capture. The CTD had previously initiated legal proceedings against him for the financing of terrorist activities, and further investigations are currently in progress. According to official sources, this counter-terrorism operation was preceded by the arrest of three terrorists belonging to the banned group Fitna al Khawarij in Karachi during a joint intelligence-based operation conducted in prior days.
