What happened

The Italian Ministry of Health has issued a recall for multiple production lots of organic tea manufactured by a company operating a facility in Schio, Vicenza, Italy. This action is a result of a potential chemical hazard identified through the detection of anthraquinone levels surpassing the maximum thresholds stipulated by Italian and European regulatory standards. Anthraquinone is classified as a carcinogen (H350) and thus poses a risk to human health. The manufacturer advises consumers to verify their purchased product against the recalled batch numbers and, should a match be found, to return the product to the original point of sale for either a replacement or a refund of the purchase price.
