Pakistan, US step up cooperation to fight terrorism

During his initial communication with Pakistani Foreign Minister Isaq Dar, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed his desire to reinforce collaboration in the area of counterterrorism. Foreign Minister Dar specifically emphasized Pakistan’s counterterrorism initiatives undertaken between 2013 and 2018. Secretary Rubio expressed his appreciation for the country’s efforts and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to increasing cooperation in counterterrorism. The leaders also deliberated on the situation in Afghanistan, with Secretary Rubio concurring on the necessity of addressing the issue of United States military equipment remaining in the country following the troop withdrawal in 2021.
