What happened

The Interior Minister of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi, has authorized the establishment of the National Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (NIFTAC), a facility dedicated to evaluating terrorist threats. Operating under the authority of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and formulated in collaboration with security stakeholders, NIFTAC will function as a primary coordination point for intelligence and analysis concerning threats, particularly those arising from terrorist actions perpetrated by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. This new centre is deemed critical for the fulfillment of NACTA’s strategic goals. Furthermore, the Minister announced intentions to institute comparable centres, designated as PIFTACs, in all provincial capitals. Of particular note is the unanimous ratification of all proposals during the meeting, a development that is expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s domestic security and counterterrorism methodologies.
