A large shipment of explosives has been intercepted and seized by the Belarusian authorities. According to reports from the Customs Committee, this is the largest shipment of explosives ever seized in a single operation. According to the reports, a 41-year-old driver was attempting to smuggle 580 kilograms of pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) in a Mercedes minibus across the Polish-Belarusian border and into Russian territory. The driver was apprehended at a checkpoint in the Belarusian city of Brest. As part of standard procedure, the vehicle was scanned using X-ray technology, which detected an unusual darkening of the floor. The authorities carried out a thorough inspection of the vehicle and partially dismantled it. It is suspected that vibration-absorbing panels and dense siding were used to conceal the explosives, which were then coated in technical grease to fool sniffer dogs.
