What happened

The Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT) in Lisbon reports a new vaccine against dengue that will soon be available in Portugal. According to the Director of the Institute, Filomeno Fortes, the vaccine does not require prior contact with the virus and is effective against the disease and preventing hospitalizations up to four and a half years after vaccination. The approved vaccine can protect against all types of dengue and is suitable for individuals aged 4 to 60.
