Moroccan health sources, as cited by local media outlets, have expressed their objective of attaining a measles vaccination coverage of no less than 90% among children under the age of 18, to ensure herd immunity. Recent data demonstrate that vaccination coverage is approximately 55%, emphasising the necessity for augmented efforts to achieve the stated objective, as asserted by Imane Cohen, the individual charged with the oversight of the Health Programme at the Ministry of Education. Experts emphasise the pivotal role of collaboration with parents to enhance awareness regarding the significance of vaccination in safeguarding children’s health. Moreover, they underscore the necessity of ongoing monitoring of vaccination status to ensure the administration of all designated vaccines, including those specifically targeting measles. The effectiveness of vaccinations is shown by the significant reduction in cases of the disease, pointed out Said Afif, a paediatrician and member of the COVID-19 Vaccination Scientific Committee. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of achieving 95% coverage at the national level to prevent possible future epidemics in the country.
