What happened

According to media reports, British Ambassador to Somalia Michael Nithavrianakis met with the President of Puntland and members of the Puntland Council of Ministers in Boosaaso on 22 February. The meeting focused on counter-terrorism operations against ISIS and the British government-funded Puntland Development Project. President Said Abdullahi Deni thanked the UK for its support for the territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. In a subsequent tweet by Ambassador Nithavrianakis, he announced that the UK government would support Operation Hillaac against ISIS with medical supplies and other unspecified assistance.
