What happened

The Guardia di Finanza of Naples recently confiscated a significant quantity of special waste, amounting to over fifteen tons, which had been concealed within the premises of a residence in Bacoli, Naples province, Italy. The operation, which was conducted by the military, led to the interdiction of an ‘Apecar50’ vehicle, which was found to be transporting several waste materials without the requisite authorisation or documentation to substantiate their provenance and intended destination. A subsequent search of the residence of the driver revealed an illicit landfill site containing hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including asbestos, transformers, and condensers from refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, waste from electrical and electronic equipment, used tyres, spent batteries, bricks, and copper cables. The entire site and the vehicle were seized, and the individual responsible was referred to the relevant judicial authority for environmental violations.
