Pakistan: terrorist attack against police mobile in Kohat

A cop was wounded during a terrorist attack with hand grenades against a police mobile in Kohat. One of the attackers was killed, while several others were arrested. Grenades and other weapons were also seized during the arrests, and a search operation was underway in the area to find leads about the identity of the attackers.
Pakistan experienced a 42% increase in terror attacks in January 2025 compared to the previous month. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) recorded at least 74 militant attacks nationwide, with 91 dead and 117 injured. Fatalities included 35 security personnel and 20 civilians. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where Kohat is located, is one of the worst affected provinces with Balochistan. PICSS reports 27 militant attacks, with 11 of the 19 dead belonging to security forces. The tribal districts of the province also saw 19 attacks, with 13 security personnel and 8 civilians killed.
