The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) has documented a single landmine and explosive remnant of war (ERW) incident in Hudaydah Governorate in January 2025, resulting in injury to one boy in the Hays district. Districts such as Al-Hali, Ad Durayhimi, and At Tuhayta in the Governorate have been particularly affected by landmine and ERW incidents over the past year. Yemen remains heavily contaminated by explosive devices, with Hudaydah Governorate being one of the most impacted due to significant past conflict and ongoing fighting along the frontlines in the south of the area. While a decline in casualty numbers has been documented, the daily risk to civilians posed by landmines and ERWs remains substantial. UNMHA calls upon the local populace to exercise caution, particularly when approaching unfamiliar areas.
