What happened

A recent outbreak of avian infection has been identified on a poultry farm in Chivasso, province of Turin, Italy. Following a thorough investigation, the veterinary service of the ASL (Azienda Sanitaria Locale) To4 has declared a ‘surveillance zone’, encompassing Chivasso and eleven neighbouring municipalities. This development has prompted measures that pertain to agricultural enterprises within the designated zone, whose proprietors have already been apprised of their respective obligations. The farm where the infection was recorded has been designated as a ‘surveillance zone,’ and the measures adopted there include seizure, slaughter, and destruction. The mayor of Chivasso, Claudio Castello, has communicated via social media that he is in close contact with the local health authorities, thereby reassuring the population about food consumption. It should be noted that meat and eggs do not transmit the infection.
