What happened

Two security personnel were killed and another person was injured in separate gun attacks in Balochistan. In the first incident, gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near Gumbaz area, close to Nana Sahib Ziarat, killing one security officer and injuring another. According to officials, five people were traveling in a vehicle when the attackers ambushed them. Three passengers escaped unharmed. Authorities have launched a search operation to track down the attackers. In a separate incident, a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was killed at Chaman Master Plan site by assailants on a motorcycle. While no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, police suspect it was a targeted killing and are investigating the matter. These attacks followed the deaths of 23 terrorists and 22 security personnel in major counter-terrorism operations in Harnai and Kalat districts of Balochistan and Dera Ismail Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) also reported a deadly ambush on Balochistan Levies personnel in Dera Ismail Khan, which left five people dead, including four Levies officials and their driver. The incident occurred near the Daraban Grid station on the N-50 Highway, and the vehicle involved caught fire. A substantial contingent of Dera Ismail Khan police responded promptly, cordoning off the area and initiating a search operation to locate the perpetrators.
