The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) yesterday reported the confirmation of the 7th clade 1b Mpox case in the country, bringing the total to seven since last October. The individual had recently travelled to Uganda. Professor Susan Hopkins, Chief Medical Advisor at the UKHSA, stated that the risk to the UK population is considered to be low. Nevertheless, she stressed the importance of identifying and advising close contacts to reduce the likelihood of further transmission. Professor Hopkins also stressed the need for continued surveillance in light of the recent increase in cases.
