According to government sources, the framework bill on nuclear energy is scheduled to be passed by the end of January 2025. The preliminary checks on the text are underway, and the final version should be presented at one of the forthcoming meetings of the Council of Ministers. The government has also indicated its intention to establish a nuclear control agency, with the implementation of the delegated law expected to take approximately two years. The subsequent five-year period is expected to be pivotal in enhancing Italy’s competitiveness in comparison to other European nations, such as Spain, Germany, and France, where energy expenditures for companies are significantly lower, as emphasised by official sources.
