The data from the weekly Bulletin published on the website of the Italian Ministry of Health regarding the monitoring of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Italy show a substantially stable trend in comparison with the previous week. In the face of an increase in the number of swabs, 42,025 compared to 34,532 in the last week of December, the positivity rate dropped from 4.5% to 3.7%. Lombardy, Tuscany and Veneto reported more cases. From 2 to 8 January, 1,562 new cases were documented, with 45 fatalities recorded (a notable increase from the 31 deaths reported in the previous week). The Marche region continued to demonstrate the highest positivity rate, escalating from 11.4% in the preceding week to 16.8%.
