What happened

A fire occurred at a company specialising in the packaging of organic solvents, located in the municipality of Rho, within the province of Milan, Italy. During the loading phase of the process, a container drum storing the solvents exploded, resulting in three injured workers being transported to the ‘Niguarda’ and ‘Rho’ hospitals with yellow codes. The workers had inhaled fumes and sustained minor burns. Given the nature of the incident, the intervention of the experts from the CBRN (Chemical, Bacteriological, Radiological, Nuclear) unit of the Fire Brigade was deemed necessary. The area was placed under sequestration after being cleared and made safe. The underlying causes that led to the explosion of the drum are not yet fully understood.
