What happened

A vehicle was driven at high speed into the Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, resulting in an unknown number of casualties. The individual responsible for the incident, reportedly a 1974 man from Saudi Arabia who rented a vehicle and subsequently drove into the Christmas market, has been apprehended by law enforcement authorities. Reports from the AFP news agency cite statements from the Emergency Services Control Centre, which has indicated that the attack involved dozens of individuals, with estimates ranging from 60 to 80 injured. The area has been cordoned off, and the police are conducting a search of the area for explosives.
