In response to the recent event of radioactive contamination at the ENEA Research Centre, located on the outskirts of Rome, the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) has asserted that the incident does not fall within the parameters of a nuclear accident but rather represents an exceptional occurrence during the operational phase of the plant. In all instances, Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) are closely monitoring the developments of the case in collaboration with the National Inspectorate for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ISIN), ENEA, and SOGIN to verify the effects of the incident. The conditions of full safety for workers operating in the plant must also be guaranteed. Additionally, the MASE asserted that it had sought reassurances regarding the medical status of the contaminated individual, who had been reported to have resumed their duties.
