What happened

According to a X tweet posted by Turkey’s National Defense Ministry, as part of its significant efforts to combact militants belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and its Syrian offshoot, the People’s Defense Units (YPG), Turkish Armed Forces launched an attack in the Gara and Hakurk regions of northern Iraq, killing at least 10 PKK members, and another one in northern Syria, a region covered by operations Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch, that killed 6 PKK/YPG members. In the tweet, reported by local media, the Ministry reaffirmed the government’s interest in counter-terrorism, claiming that further action would be taken “until the last terrorist is eradicated”.
