What happened

The Modena Local Health Authority has announced the withdrawal of two thousand doses of the anti-flu vaccine due to the detection of a temperature flu virus in one of the refrigerators used to store it. The recall was decided as a precautionary measure through an agreement with the manufacturer, which entailed the non-use of the vaccine batches and the replacement of the affected doses. As asserted by public health officials, the administration of the affected doses does not present a significant health risk; however, it may result in diminished vaccine efficacy. The Modena ASL has issued notifications to the relevant medical practitioners and patients who received the doses have been located and are being contacted for further information.
