A female patient died in a hospital in Rome after consuming an artichoke soup purchased at a local supermarket. The cause of death was determined to be botulinum poisoning, according to the results of the autopsy. Several days later, the patient’s daughter also began exhibiting similar symptoms and was transferred to the intensive care unit. The incident is under investigation by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office. To verify the procedures followed by the food company in the production and storage of the product, the NAS Carabinieri carry out checks throughout the production chain.
