What happened

Pier Luigi Bartoletti, secretary of the Italian Federation of Family Practitioners in Rome and the surrounding area, has expressed concern over the general public’s low level of participation in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The reason can be attributed to the elevated incidence of infection observed between August and September, which precludes patients from receiving the vaccine concurrently with the continued prevalence of respiratory illnesses that restrict the elderly from proceeding with the immunization for SARS-CoV-2. Recent studies have observed a certain reluctance among the elderly to be vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, with some saying that they have already received 4 or 5 doses of the vaccine or that they have previously contracted the disease on multiple occasions, Bartoletti pointed out.
