Train derailment in South Louisiana causes chemical leak

On Friday 18/10, a train derailed in South Louisiana, and several train cars leaked chemical substances. No injuries were reported, and authorities stated that no hazardous materials were involved. Markings on the train cars indicated that they carried propylene, sulfuric acid, and refrigerated oxygen, materials not inherently harmful. Three tank cars leaked cyanuric acid, a chemical used in herbicides and bleach. The clean-up of the scene and the repair of the rail are conducted by deputies together with state police and the railroad company and will take several days.
