What happened

The initial open day, which was held in Lombardy, saw ten thousand citizens vaccinated against influenza. This was the first of two open days scheduled to relaunch the vaccination campaign started on 1 October. To date, the vaccination campaign has resulted in 15,000 vaccinations, representing a five-thousand-person increase over the number of individuals vaccinated during the previous year. The influenza vaccine will become available free of charge to individuals belonging to risk categories as of 4 November. These include healthcare personnel, pregnant women and new mothers, individuals aged 60 and above, minors from 6 months to 17 years of age, individuals at risk of disease, and their family members and caregivers. A simultaneous administration of the influenza vaccine and the updated variant of the vaccine for the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) will be made available to the general population.
