What happened

SNTV journalist and cameraman, Ahmed Mohamed Shakur, 26, killed in a bomb explosion attack that took place in Basra Town, about 30 km north of Mogadishu. According to the chief-editor of SNTV, Shakur was targeted while covering military operations on the outskirts of the Somali capital: a IED hit him as he walked past Security Officials, a family member and a colleague. He became the first journalist killed in Somalia in 2022, bringing the total number of journalists killed in the last five years to 14.
