What happened

The London branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of China’s major state-owned banks, has been the victim of a ransomware attack by a cyber gang called Hunters International.
The cyber gang announced that it had exfiltrated 6.6 terabytes of data, equivalent to over 5.2 million files containing sensitive data.
As is common among ransomware cyber gangs, the group of cyber criminals has demanded a ransom to be paid no later than September 13, after which the stolen data will be sold on the illegal dark web market and made public.
