What happened

Two new instances of dengue fever have been reported in Trieste; one case is confirmed, and the other is under investigation. The affected individuals had recently traveled to a region known for endemic diseases. The Isonzo Giuliano University Health Company has declared that no other passengers arriving in Trieste are at risk. As outlined in the Regional Plan 2024-2025 for the implementation of the Plan for prevention, surveillance, and response to arbovirosis, a note from the relevant health company explains that the patient’s place of residence has already been visited and that national and international protocols have been activated in advance to limit the spread of the disease. The scheduled pest control procedures have necessitated the implementation of larvicidal and adulticidal interventions in the proximity of residential properties occupied by individuals infected with the virus.
