Germany has announced the donation of 100,000 vaccine doses against monkeypox, also known as Mpox, to African countries most impacted by the disease, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi, which have seen a significant rise in cases. Furthermore, the German government has committed to working with the African Union to promote local vaccine production, aiming to reduce dependence on international supplies. These vaccines, sourced from the German army’s reserves, will be distributed soon. This effort is part of a broader international cooperation strategy to prevent the spread of the Mpox virus and mitigate the risk of global health issues, as stated by German government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit.
