What happened

According to the WHO “Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and other Emergencies” from epidemiological week, 9.137 suspected Cholera cases, including 163 deaths (CFR: 1.8%), were recorded in 70 health zones across 14 Provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Suspected cases have mostly been reported from South Kivu (3.367), Haut-Lomami (1.736), Tanganyika (1.664), and North Kivu (1.586). The overall national incidence is 11 cases per 100.000 inhabitants. Joint WHO, UNICEF, MSF and PNECHOL teams have been deployed to Sankuru to support the local health Authorities in the response to this epidemic.
