What happened

The WHO “Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and other Emergencies” for week 26 (24 to 30 June 2024) reported 93 suspected hepatitis E cases in the Kaya health district, North Central region. Of 63 tested samples, eight were positive for hepatitis E via PCR. The median age of affected individuals is 22, with women constituting 47.39% of cases. Internally displaced persons account for 48.46% of the suspected cases, totaling 46 individuals. There have been no reported cases among pregnant women.
