Somalia: Al-Shabaab attack in El-Dheer

Intense combat was reported in central Somalia on Saturday morning, with al-Shabaab militants targeting the town of El-Dheer. This town has been a focal point of conflict between government forces and the militant group. Despite being expelled from El-Dheer several years ago, al-Shabaab has repeatedly attacked the town, causing significant damage to local infrastructure. The group, via Telegram, claimed to have “overrun” government military camps around the city, although this claim remains unverified. Casualties on both sides are also still unknown.
