What happened

The Australian Defence Force has tested its Fractl Portable High Energy Laser, a new directed energy weapon able to localize threats as small as a 10-cent coin at 1,000 meters away and neutralize drones moving at 100 km/h by firing a concentrated laser capable of melting through steel. As autonomous aircraft and drones have proven to be a genuine threat in modern warfare, Fractl is an important tool to counter them, as it can detect, track, and engage those types of targets, with the added advantage of not needing ammo as long as it has power. The weapon operates silently and easily; even unfamiliar personnel can learn the platform within minutes.
