What happened

The Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC), in collaboration with the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya’s Mine Action Section (UNSMIL), announced on May 9 the development of a comprehensive national mine action strategy. This announcement was made during an event in Tripoli, organized by LibMAC with support from UNSMIL and seven NGOs, to mark the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance. The event, themed “Protecting Lives and Building Peace”, featured speeches, a panel discussion, and an exhibition on demining efforts, attended by approximately 200 people, including key governmental and international representatives.
