Public health authorities are investigating new cases of Salmonella in the USA. 109 people across 29 states of the USA have been infected with one of the outbreak strains of Salmonella. Of these individuals, 33 have been admitted to the hospital. Nevertheless, there have been no reports of fatalities. Illnesses were reported between February 28, 2024, and April 30, 2024. The number of cases probably exceeds those reported since some individuals may have recovered without medical intervention. Every interviewed person reported contact with backyard poultry or had acquired poultry before their illness. For this reason, the authorities and the CDC recommend being cautious around backyard poultry to prevent Salmonella infections.
