What happened

Since May 7th, some Kosovar government websites have fallen victim to hacker attacks identified as DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service), which send excessive traffic to the websites, causing them to malfunction or be blocked. The attack has been claimed by a pro-Russian hacker group known as ‘Server Killers.’ The hackers made this claim directly by posting messages on a Telegram channel, stating that they launched attacks against the Kosovar government websites in response to statements of support for Ukraine made by the Kosovo Minister of Defense. The Kosovar government confirmed the attacks, stating that they did not cause any data damage and that the sites have been restored. This incident highlights the need for the Kosovo government to invest more in qualified human resources for enhanced cybersecurity.
