Chemical explosion in Hubei kills 3

Three people were killed in an explosion at a nitrocellulose production plant in the city of Laohekou, Hubei province. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by a drop in the water level in a boiling and washing pot, which led to overheating and thermal decomposition of nitrocellulose, triggering the explosion. Investigations are underway to determine the precise causes.
