What happened

The Nigerian army has reported the interception of suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), during a clearance operation in Imo State, Nigeria’s South-east region. During this operation, a combined effort of security agencies resulted in the neutralization of a suspected bomb expert affiliated with these groups. The spokesperson of the Nigerian army, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the individual in question was killed on Wednesday in Orsu-Ihitteukwa, a community within the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State. Major General Nwachukwu further detailed that the security agencies involved in this operation included personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Nigerian police, State Security Service, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
