According to the Africa CDC’s Weekly Event Based Surveillance Report – Africa CDC Epidemic Intelligence Report (28 April 2024), the Ministry of Health reported ten new confirmed cases and no new deaths of cholera from six districts. This represents a 23% decrease in the number of new cases reported compared to the previous update. In total, there have been 241 confirmed cases and three deaths (case fatality rate: 1.2%) of cholera reported from 14 out of 29 districts in Malawi this year, marking a prolonged outbreak that began in November 2023.
