What happened

The Nigerian Army’s troops have uncovered an improvised explosive devices (IEDs) factory used by fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Abulam-BUK, Damboa LGA of Borno State. During a clearance operation at the factory, the troops successfully killed several terrorists. The operation was conducted by Special Forces troops in collaboration with HYBRID and Civilian Joint Task Force as part of Operation Desert Sanity III, which is a subsidiary of Operation HADIN Kai. The troops made significant progress in penetrating the insurgents’ hideouts, according to a counter-insurgency publication called Zagazola Makama. It was marked by a series of encounters designed to decimate the terrorists from their stronghold in the Timbuktu Triangle, comprising Buk, Talala, and Gorgi in the dreaded Sambisa forest.
