What happened

The Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) has reported that some financial and banking organizations were targeted by a hacker group launching Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. The affected financial and banking institutions include the BCR platform, Banca Transilvania, and Alpha Bank.

These attacks have caused disruptions for customers, who encountered difficulties using applications. The DDoS attack, in its structure, generated a high volume of connection requests, leading to slowdowns and, in some cases, the blocking of websites and online services for its victims.

According to authorities, the attack was carried out by a pro-Russian group known as NoName75. However, all affected organizations have been assured that services will be restored, and no sensitive data has been compromised. The DNSC has provided technical support to all organizations affected by this cyber attack.
