France aims to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050. Furthermore, France’s commitment will be towards nuclear energy to ensure “energy sovereignty”. All this, however, would seem to abandon the objectives on renewable energy.
Particularly, activists and experts criticise the new French energy law, which favours the development of nuclear energy while avoiding setting targets for solar and wind power and other renewable energies. In response, the Ministry of Energy Transition has assured that the government itself will set targets later.
