What happened

Five security officers were injured after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Lafey in Mandera. The officers were part of a team in a three-vehicle convoy with 70 officers headed to Mandera from Elwak when the incident occurred. Police report gunshots fired by suspected Al Shabab fighters who ambushed them.
